About this event

Join us for this dedicated studio portrait experience day with a professional snake performer model with her pet royal python called Morpheus!  The python will offer some wonderful & unique portrait opportunities and has some lovely patterning on its skin. This day will be led and tutored by award winning photographer Panikos in his dedicated home studio. The aim is to push the boundaries of your photography and technique and offer you some special photography opportunities! The use of light is key to taking eye catching portraiture, and what better place to experiment in a small group in a dedicated studio with a model a snake and a pro photographer present to have you coming home with some great themed portraits. You will also have use of the studios top of the range studio flash equipment and modifiers to really make your images stand out.

Your course leader for the day is award winning photographer Panikos Hajistilly:

Panikos has won dozens of National Awards with his imagery, including the prestigious MPA Master Photographer of the Year in 2017/18 and MPA president from 2020-2021. He has a Fellowship with the MPA, a Master Craftsman with the Guild of Photographers and a Fellow with the SWPP and the BIPP. His work speaks for itself, in that you will always see "clean” images with great connection, expressions and a relaxed feel to the photos he creates. A lot of his time is now spent teaching his lighting styles to professional and amateur photographers alike. Panikos has his own home studio where he does most of his work using both natural and studio light – or a combination of the two. He also loves working on location, whether it’s in the great outdoors or in the city. Panikos has vast experience in photographing everything from maternity, newborns, babies and families, portraits as well as pets of all types.

Course schedule:
On this day you will get 4 hours of shooting time with our model in a variety of different costumes & lighting. We will then do 2 hours of image editing and finishing to make the most out of your images taken on the day. In the editing session you will learn how Panikos professionally finishes his images to give them the wow factor. You will then be able to print and take home an A4 print of one of your images from the day. Questions are welcome throughout the day and we hope to demystify flash photography and get you more confident with lighting your subjects.

The aim of this day is to bring your portrait photography to the next level and explore a beautiful & artistic theme, expanding your knowledge of flash and studio lighting as well as natural light and balancing both, giving you the chance to try new things, all with your professional trainer on hand to offer advice and assistance. We just advise that you have knowledge of ISO, shutter speed and Aperture and have some experience using your camera on manual mode to get the most out of this day. All lighting will be provided.
