About this event

This environmental dance portrait masterclass will aim to push the boundaries of your photography! What better place to capture dance in eye catching costumes than a huge Victorian pump house, full of natural light and beautiful industrial backdrops. We have exclusive use of the whole of this wonderful venue and the photography opportunities are endless.

Your course leader for the day is award winning photographer Panikos Hajistilly:

Panikos has won dozens of National Awards with his imagery, including the prestigious MPA Master Photographer of the Year in 2017/18 and MPA president from 2020-2021. He has a Fellowship with the MPA, a Master Craftsman with the Guild of Photographers and a Fellow with the SWPP and the BIPP. His work speaks for itself, in that you will always see "clean” images with great connection, expressions and a relaxed feel to the photos he creates. A lot of his time is now spent teaching his lighting styles to professional and amateur photographers alike. Panikos has his own home studio where he does most of his work using both natural and studio light – or a combination of the two. He also loves working on location, whether it’s in the great outdoors or in the city. Panikos has vast experience in photographing everything from maternity, newborns, babies and families, portraits as well as pets of all types.

We will have 2 ballet dancers who will be confirmed soon.

The aim of this day is to give you a great dance photography experience and to increase your knowledge of using off camera flash to have you coming home with some great and unique images. Expanding your knowledge and giving you the chance to try new things is what it is all about, and with Panikos as your course leader you will be in great hands.

What to expect:
A beautiful industrial and ornate venue with a photography opportunity everywhere you turn - with a restored and unrestored area so you have a variety of backdrops.
2 professional ballet dancers who will pose & dance in a few different costumes
Studio quality flash equipment & modifiers
The opportunity to take outstanding dance imagery
A relaxed and fun learning environment
Free tea and coffee

In the evening we will also have a separate event being run by TimeLine Events '1930's Spies' running from 17:30-20:30 so if you wanted to make a full day & evening of photography you can also book for the evening too.

Crossness is one of the most impressive and ornate pumping stations in the UK.

Due to this being a restricted site we require your car registration number so that you can have free on site parking and enter through the security gate. Please email this to us after booking or put it next to your name on the booking form when booking. You can arrive by taxi, but the taxi must enter through the security gates and drive you right up to the Crossness museum as you cannot enter on foot. Abbey Wood station is also close by.
