About this event
We are delighted to offer an exclusive 2 day trip to Skomer Island in 2025! Join us with professional wildlife photographer Clive Greenland as we take you on this guided photography tour and wildlife training trip where we get to spend 2 magical days and nights on the island. This promises to be a fantastic experience
with some truly unique photography opportunities with the chance to
capture puffins at dusk and dawn in the golden hours, Puffins with beaks full of fish, flying to and from the burrows
and sitting and walking amongst the summer flowers that coat the island
during this time. This is the height of the puffin season when chicks
are hatched and feeding so we expect a lots of activity on the island with puffins flying in with beaks of fish. We will also do a night walk so you can experience the sounds of the hundreds of thousands of Manx Sheerwater that come awake after dark.
We head to Skomer on the morning of the 26th June (usually the boat departs at around 9am and we need to be at the visitors centre an hour before departure). We then return to the mainland on the morning of the 28th June spending the night of the 26th and 27th June on the island. The 2 days will be packed with photography from dawn until dusk and after the day visitors depart just before 5pm there will only be 14 of us left on the island (plus any Skomer staff) so it's like having the whole place to ourselves in the evenings and early mornings before 10am.
The wildlife of Skomer is unique and incredibly special, well known for
its Puffins, the island is a bird paradise and includes many other
animals such as Manx Shearwaters, Dolphins, Harbour Porpoises, Atlantic
Grey Seal, Razorbills, Gannets, Fulmars and the unique Skomer Vole. The
island is surrounded by some of the richest waters for wildlife off the
British Isles and you can keep an eye out for seals and dolphins. In
June 2024 the island saw record numbers of over 43,000 puffins settled
on the land and thanks to the hard work of the wildlife trust the
numbers on Skomer have been doing well in the last few years. Places are limited to just 6 photographers for this exclusive trip.
Included in the ticket price is the fee for the boat trip to and from the island, 2 nights accommodation and photography tuition throughout the trip plus meals on a half board basis (we will cook a group dinner for everyone each evening and provide some snacks for breakfast).
